Pork Spareribs


  • 750g spareribs 
  • 1T olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 1T brown sugar
  • 1t wine vinegar
  • 1t worcestershire sauce
  • dash of hot pepper sauce
  • ½t dry mustard
  • ¼t garlic salt


  1. Combine the oil and onion in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave on high for 2 minutes.  Add the remainder of ingredients (sauces, sugar, vinegar, mustard and salt), and cook for a further 2 minutes longer.
  2. Brush sauce over the spareribs, and rest for 2 hours.
  3. Heat the oven to 135ºC.
  4. Place ribs on rack in a lined (for easier cleaning) roasting dish curl side up, and cook in the oven for 2½ hours. Finish the ribs under the grill.
  5. Cut ribs and serve.
