Easy Lamb Shanks

Serves 4


  • 4 lamb shanks (hind-shanks or fore-shanks) (1 per person)
  • 1T fresh garlic paste
  • 1T fresh basil paste
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • freshly ground salt and black pepper
  • olive oil


  1. Line the base of your crockpot (or use an oven bag) -this makes the clean up easier for later on
  2. Mix olive oil, basil and garlic paste, and brush over the surface of the shanks
  3. Season liberally with freshly ground salt and pepper
  4. Place seasoned shanks with rosemary sprig in the pot (or in the oven bag)
  5. Cook on low for 3-4 hours with lid on.  (If using an oven bag, scrunch this up -don’t tie it closed, and put the lid on the pot)
  6. Use juices at the bottom of the pot (or those collected in the oven bag) to make a gravy
  7. Serve on mashed potatoes
